Private Outdoor Camping & Activity Weekends in Middleton in Teesdale | Ideal for Scouts & Youth Groups UK

Our private weekend camping and activity experiences take place in Middleton in Teesdale, one of the UK’s most scenic and rugged outdoor locations. Surrounded by open countryside, this is a true wild camping-style experience designed for Scout groups, Explorer Scouts, youth organisations, school groups, and private adventure bookings.

This is a fully private hire site, offering exclusive use for your group only, making it ideal for Scout camps, Duke of Edinburgh-style training weekends, outdoor education trips, and team building experiences.

What to Expect On Site

This is a purpose-built outdoor experience with a natural, back-to-basics camping feel. Facilities are simple but practical to support a safe and enjoyable group weekend:

  • Camping: Guests bring and set up their own tents in open outdoor fields
  • Toilets: Portable toilet facilities (porta loos) are provided on site
  • Water: Clean water is supplied for washing and cleaning purposes only (not drinking water)
  • Food & Drink: Groups are required to bring and supply all their own food and drinks
  • Cooking: A communal BBQ area is provided, but guests must bring their own charcoal and cooking supplies
  • Communal Marquee: perfect for dining and evening gatherings.

This setup is designed to keep the experience authentic and flexible, especially for Scout camps and youth outdoor training groups who are used to self-sufficient camping environments.

Friday – Arrival & Camp Setup

Groups arrive on Friday and set up their camping areas across the site. The central communal marquee acts as the main social hub for the weekend, providing a shared space for meals, games, and evening activities. This is a relaxed introduction to the weekend, helping groups settle in and prepare for the activities ahead.

Saturday – Structured Activity Day

Saturday is the main activity day, split into two organised sessions focused on teamwork, participation, and outdoor challenge. Activities may include mini tank driving and a range of team-based outdoor challenges, making it ideal for Scout programme development, youth group progression, and team building experiences.

In the evening, groups return to the communal marquee for social time, games, and downtime in a safe and controlled private setting.

Sunday – Fun Activity Rotation Day

Sunday is a relaxed but energetic final day designed for enjoyment and group engagement. Activities include a rotation of:

  • Tag archery
  • Bubble football
  • Fun challenge activities such as mini golf-style games

This final session is especially popular with Scout groups and youth organisations, offering a fun, inclusive way to finish the weekend before pack-down and departure.
